I need to learn study skills.?
I'm a smart student, so I've never really needed to study. But now that I'm older, I have to. I never do homework at my house. I always do it at school in the morning or in study hall. If I absolutely have to do it at home, I stay up until like 1 in the morning and then start on my homework. My house is small and depressing. My room just makes me want to fall asleep, like rainy days do. I sometimes try to start my homework right when I get home, but I end up falling asleep or just getting so bored that I can't concentrate. How can I change my habits and make this better?

What are your study skills?
I'm in 8th grade Earth Science and we have a HUGE 100 pt. test coming up and I'm so nervous Our teacher gave us this big packet of stuff we need to know, and it's like, 20 pages. So I wanted to know how you would study this stuff. I'm so scared and I've been crying a lot because my grade means a lot to me and I would be so mad if I got a bad grade. So do you have any tips or something. I'm not a good studier because I used to just be able to wing it, but I can't this year. Anyone know some things to help me?Thanks And I don't want to hear " get off the computer" blah blah blah. It's 11 23, and my brain definitely doesn't register stuff at this time of night.

Help with Study Skills?
I am in college. It is my freshmen semester. I am realizing now that I don't know how to study I am getting by on pure luck I have covered the majority of the material before so I am getting A's and B's and my B's are like 85 % 87 %. I think my lowest grade is like an 83 %. One class I skipped lecture for about week and a half had no idea what chapter we were working on, I looked over my notes for 15 minutes went and took the test and got a 93 %. I had a really good teacher last year and had covered the material already. Next semester I am going to take some really difficult classes. I don't think my study skills are going to cut it for me. They say it takes 3 weeks to make a habit. I want to change my study skills. My college recommend that you study 2 hours per every credit hour. So for me once you exclude the classes that are welcome to campus that would be 12 credit hours and 24 hours per week. I don't come anywhere near that I will study maybe 1 4 hours for a class when I have a test in it that coming week. How do I make time for that much studying? Next semester I am taking 17 credit hours 34 hours Here is how I prepare for class I always will do the homework. That is the one thing that has changed from high school. In high school I would have lots of missing assignments but I have not missed a single assignment Which I am really pleased about.I am trying to use my text books more. In an ideal world I would have the chapter read before the lecture. I would say this happens maybe 60 70 % of the time. If I don't read the chapter completely then I will go through the chapter and copy down vocab words and our book does summaries after key points and I will copy them down. I would say that I have at least done this about 80 % of the time. I would say the majority of the time I will have read the chapter before the test though not always. My biggest problem is the chapters are like 30 pages long and they are really boring it is hard to get into the right frame of mind.During Class I take notes on my laptop. I would say about 95 % I am focussed on class and not on facebook or the like. I also record the lectures as well. I am still fine tweaking this because in some of my classes I have yet to find the perfect seat and can't hear my professor speaking later. I also copy down any review questions that are asked because those could be test questions.I don't really review my notes that is something I am trying to doStudying for tests I normally will look over my notes and if there is anything I am not 100 % on I will go back into the book to find more info. Many of my teachers provide a study guide and I will try and complete the study guide. I will also look online for tests over the material. This normally takes 1 3 hours the first day. Then I only review for about 20 minutes after that. I start studying about 4 days before a test.I just feel like I am not doing something right because I am no where near 24 hours If you included all of my homework, textbook reading and studying on a weekly basis It might come out to be 8 hours and that is for all my classes I understand it is just a guide and not a cold hard number but I just feel like I am doing something wrong. Next semester I am taking 6 classes and somme of them are supposed to be real tough

How can I improve my studying skills? An effective way to learn more? Any tips?
I want to study more effectively. I study repeating and writing definitions down, saying them, reviewing my notes. But I have noticed that I am forgetting what I read and constantly looking back at my previous notes to review them which is making it hard to move on to another section. It takes many repetitions to really memorize it and it wasn't this hard for me before. I would usually just sit in class and listen, and I wouldn't have to study... So any tips on how to improve my studying skills?
